Summary

Amends the

Commonwealth Electoral Act 1918
to allow the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) to undertake any plebiscite on the amalgamation of any local government body in Australia by: authorising the AEC to use and disclose certain information, including information contained in an electoral roll for the purposes of conducting an activity, including a plebiscite; and overrides State or Territory law which prohibits, penalises, or discriminates against a person or body taking part in such an activity.
